Notification for authorisation of Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to perform Aadhaar authentication for the purposes of registration of owners of informal micro enterprises on its digital platform
S.O. 2239(E).—Whereas, rule 3 of the Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance (Social Welfare, Innovation, Knowledge) Rules, 2020 (hereinafter referred to as the Aadhaar Authentication Rules) empowers the Central Government (in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) to allow Aadhaar authentication by requesting entities in the interest of good governance, preventing leakage of public funds, promoting ease of living of residents and enabling better access to services for them, for the purposes specified therein;
And whereas, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises submitted a proposal as required by rule 4 of the Aadhaar Authentication Rules to the Central Government and the said Central Government vide its communication dated the 28th March, 2023 has authorised the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to perform Aadhaar authentication for the purposes mentioned therein.
Now, therefore, in pursuance of rule 5 of the Aadhaar Authentication Rules, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, having been authorised by the Central Government, hereby notifies that Aadhaar authentication of enterprises shall be performed, on voluntary basis, using Yes/No authentication facility, during the process of registration of owners of informal micro enterprises on its digital platform, to facilitate access for availing of priority sector lending.
