Open API facility for certificate of origin through Trade Connect

Introduction of Open API Facility for Certificate of Origin through Trade Connect – Trade Notice No. 25/2026-27
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has introduced an Open API facility on the Trade Connect e-Platform to facilitate digital and seamless processing of Certificates of Origin (CoO).
The facility is intended for eligible exporters and their authorised systems and enables integration with the DGFT Certificate of Origin platform, subject to the applicable technical and procedural requirements.
Purpose of the Facility
The Open API functionality allows exporters to connect their ERP, accounting software or other relevant business applications with the DGFT Certificate of Origin system.
Through this integration, exporters can electronically submit and exchange information relating to CoO applications directly from their existing software environment. This is expected to:
- Reduce repetitive manual data entry;
- Improve the efficiency of the CoO application process;
- Facilitate faster exchange of CoO-related information; and
- Enable smoother integration between exporters’ internal systems and the DGFT platform.
Registration and API Access
Exporters intending to use the facility are required to complete the prescribed registration and onboarding process, including authentication and technical integration requirements.
Detailed instructions relating to registration, API access, authentication, integration and utilisation of the facility are available on the Trade Connect e-Platform under:
Certificate of Origin → API Management for Exporters
A step-by-step Help Manual has also been provided by DGFT to assist exporters with the onboarding and implementation process.
Technical Integration
Eligible exporters may undertake the necessary integration of their ERP, accounting or other compatible systems with the DGFT CoO platform in accordance with the technical specifications and procedures prescribed by DGFT.
Exporters should ensure that their systems comply with the applicable authentication, security and API-related requirements before commencing integration.
Support and Assistance
For assistance relating to the eCoO module or the Open API facility, exporters and other stakeholders may approach the DGFT Helpdesk through the support channels made available by DGFT, including its toll-free assistance and email support facilities.
Action Required
Exporters who intend to use automated or system-based processing for Certificates of Origin may evaluate the Open API facility and undertake the required technical onboarding.
Stakeholders are encouraged to use the facility in accordance with the procedures, technical specifications and other requirements prescribed by DGFT.
