ICAI wrote Letter to Editor on misuse of CA logo
ICAI wrote Letter to Editor: The Times of India, Ahmedabad dated March 10, 2021, on misuse of CA logo
We have come across a news item published in the Times of India dated March 10, 2021 with the caption “GST frauds: Gujarat ranks fourth in India”. In the said news item (as attached), the logo of “CA” has been used in the illustration and it portrays a wrong image of CA professionals in the minds of the readers with regards to such GST frauds.
Would like to inform that the policy makers in their wisdom enacted the Chartered Accountants Act and established the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) to regulate the profession way back in 1949 and ever since ICAI has steadfastly worked for the avowed mandate of selflessness and promoting financial discipline. The ICAI and its
members have been acting as the vanguard of the resilient practices to the process of financial reporting and auditing.
The aforesaid misuse of CA logo on which ICAI has Trademark rights, has brought huge disrepute to the noble profession of Chartered Accountancy and has tarnished their image in the society. The public at large is likely to be misled by this fallacious publishing of CA Logo along with the aforesaid story in your newspaper.
It is therefore urged that a suitable corrigendum may be issued by your newspaper mentioning that the CA logo published in the illustration alongside the article was inadvertently used for which the Publication expresses regret. The intention was not to cause any disrepute to the CA profession. With such corrigendum, the correct facts can be brought to the notice of readers.
Yours Faithfully
