Union Minister inaugurates newly constructed Aayakar Bhawan of Income Tax Department in Kochi
Offices such as the Income Tax must have efficient and aesthetically designed working environments, says Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman

Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman today (Nov 24, 2023) said that offices such as the Income Tax must have an efficient and aesthetically designed working environments. She was inaugurating the newly constructed Aayakar Bhawan of the Income Tax Department, Kerala in Kochi.
Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman said that Aayakar Bhawan, like the Kochi Airport, had wonderful features and kept up the good traditions of Kerala. She hoped that the benefit of such a working space and also the mental readiness of staff would make the place a lot more hospitable for assesses. She also urged the Department to upload all its documents in the regional language to help assessees. While congratulating the Department for recording a growth rate of 23.2% in its tax collection which exceeded the national growth rate of 17.4%, she said the Department must continue its excellent track record.
The Finance Minister also released “Tax Deductor’s Guide 2023”, a compendium of provisions of TDS in Malayalam which would help tax deductors understand TDS provisions more easily and ensure better compliance with them. She also distributed models of Chandrayaan to students of Government schools to encourage them to develop a scientific temper.
Shri Nitin Gupta, Chairman, CBDT, Shri Sanjai Kumar Verma, Member, CBDT and Shri Sunil Mathur, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Kerala attended the function. The Aayakar Bhawan has been constructed with a project cost of about Rs. 64 crores and has a built-up area of 8227 sq.m and carpet area of 4469 sq.m.
