DGFT Invites Applications for India–UK CETA Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ) for Calendar Year 2026

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has invited applications for the allocation of Tariff Rate Quotas (TRQs) under the India–United Kingdom Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) for Calendar Year (CY) 2026.

Eligible importers can submit their applications during the prescribed application window for specified categories of motor vehicles covered under the agreement.

Application Period

Applications for TRQ allocation will be accepted from 21 July 2026 to 4 August 2026.

Products Covered

The invitation covers specified Completely Built Unit (CBU) motor vehicles imported under the India–UK CETA, including:

Passenger Motor Vehicles

TRQ allocations have been notified for new passenger vehicles that have not been registered anywhere before importation. The quota is divided based on engine capacity:

  • Engine capacity up to 1,500 cc2,329 units
  • Engine capacity above 1,500 cc and up to 3,000 cc (petrol) or above 1,500 cc and up to 2,500 cc (diesel)2,329 units
  • Engine capacity exceeding 3,000 cc (petrol) or exceeding 2,500 cc (diesel)4,658 units

Goods Transport Vehicles

The notification also covers Completely Built Unit (CBU) motor vehicles for the transport of goods, excluding electric and hydrogen fuel vehicles.

  • TRQ Quantity: 1,164 units

Allocation Procedure

The import of the above products will be governed by the procedure and conditions specified in Annexure VII of Appendix 2A of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023, as notified earlier by DGFT.

Applicants should ensure that they satisfy all eligibility requirements and comply with the prescribed application process before submitting their requests for quota allocation.
