ICAI Hosts Grand Convocation Ceremony Across 15 Cities

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the country’s premier accounting body established under an Act of Parliament, recently hosted a grand Convocation Ceremony across 15 major locations in India. The event marked a significant milestone for 13,737 newly qualified Chartered Accountants, who received their certificates of membership and formally joined the prestigious CA fraternity.

A Nationwide Celebration

The Convocation was organized simultaneously in New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ghaziabad, Ernakulam, Vijayawada, Ahmedabad, Pune, Indore, Jaipur, Chandigarh and Ludhiana. This large-scale celebration brought together fresh graduates, rank holders, and senior members of the profession, highlighting ICAI’s efforts to unite young professionals with the larger accounting community.

The national ceremony was inaugurated in New Delhi by Smt. Ravneet Kaur, Chairperson of the Competition Commission of India (CCI), who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event in Delhi was led by CA. Charanjot Singh Nanda, President, ICAI, and CA. Prasanna Kumar D, Vice-President, ICAI, in the presence of ICAI Central Council Members and other distinguished dignitaries.

Messages of Inspiration

In her keynote address, Smt. Ravneet Kaur congratulated the new members and acknowledged the rigorous journey they had completed. She emphasized the growing role of Chartered Accountants in ensuring ethical, transparent, and technology-driven practices in today’s economy. With rapid changes in AI, blockchain, and digital finance, she encouraged continuous learning and adaptability.

She highlighted that Chartered Accountants are custodians of trust, whose independence and integrity impact not just clients and businesses but also the larger public interest.

Adding to the momentum, CA. Charanjot Singh Nanda, President of ICAI, addressed the gathering with words of encouragement. He described receiving the membership certificate as a defining moment that transforms students into professionals and partners in nation-building. He also emphasized India’s growing global influence, stating that Indian Chartered Accountants are soon to be recognized as “partners in global building.”

CA. Prasanna Kumar D, Vice-President of ICAI, echoed these thoughts, describing Chartered Accountants as strategic solution providers who are not confined to traditional roles but are also leaders in areas such as entrepreneurship, sustainability, ESG, taxation, and technology. He reminded the new members that ethics and integrity are non-negotiable foundations of the profession.

A Defining Moment for the Profession

With more than 65% of India’s population under the age of 35, the induction of over 13,000 fresh Chartered Accountants adds tremendous strength to the nation’s professional and financial ecosystem. As India progresses toward becoming the world’s third-largest economy, these young professionals are expected to play a decisive role in shaping business practices, governance, and economic growth.

The President of ICAI also administered the oath of integrity and professional commitment to the new members. This symbolic moment underlined the values of accountability and service that define the CA profession.
