Procedure for Implementation of Import Management System (IMS) for Import of Restricted IT Hardware for Calendar Year 2026
Attention is invited to DGFT Notification No. 23/2023 dated 03.08.2023, read with Notification No. 26/2023 dated 04.08.2023 and Notification No. 38/2023 dated 19.10.2023, whereby the import of specified IT Hardware, namely Laptops, Tablets, All-in-One Personal Computers, Ultra Small Form Factor Computers, and Servers falling under HSN 8471, was notified as “Restricted”.
Further, Policy Circular No. 09/2024-25 dated 11.12.2024 prescribed the detailed procedure for implementation of the Import Management System (IMS) for the calendar year 2025.
- In continuation thereof, the procedure for implementation of the Import Management System for the import of restricted IT Hardware for the calendar year 2026 is outlined below:
- Importers shall submit applications for Import Authorization through the Import Management System (IMS) available on the DGFT website.
- The online application portal shall remain open from 22 December 2025 to 15 December 2026.
- Any Import Authorization issued under the IMS shall be valid up to 31 December 2026.
- Importers may submit multiple applications during the calendar year.
- Requests for amendment of an Import Authorization, arising during its validity, may be submitted through the DGFT website.
- Based on operational requirements, a mid-term review may be undertaken by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to provide updated inputs to DGFT regarding the IMS.
- DGFT reserves the right to amend, modify, suspend, or withdraw the above procedure, either in part or in whole, at any time, in accordance with policy requirements or directions of the Government.
