Import of Studded Silver Jewellery Now Restricted – Key Update till June 2026
Change in Import Policy for ITC (HS) Codes 71131144 and 71131145 under Chapter 71
Notification No. 63/2025-26
In accordance with the powers granted under Sections 3 and 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, along with the relevant provisions of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023, the Central Government has made revisions to the import policy applicable to specific jewellery items classified under ITC (HS) codes 71131144 and 71131145.
These items fall under Chapter 71 of the ITC (HS) 2022, Schedule I (Import Policy). The updated policy will remain in force until 30 June 2026 and comes into effect immediately.

Impact of the Notification
The import status of the above-mentioned items has been changed from “Free” to “Restricted”, meaning that imports will now require prior authorization from the relevant authority.
This notification has been issued with the approval of the competent authority in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
