The 17th ICAI Awards Ceremonial Triumph: Recognizing Excellence and Innovation in Accountancy

Mumbai, 09 January 2024 — The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) had instituted ICAI Awards in the year 2007 to honour and acknowledge the exemplary achievements of its members who have attained exceptional levels of professional achievements in industry and business and are committed towards their goals.
ICAI continues its legacy to honour stellar individuals and organized 17th ICAI Award ceremony which culminated in triumphant success, showcasing a remarkable lineup of distinguished guests, motivational talks, and the celebration of exceptional achievements in the realm of chartered accountancy organized by the Committee for Members in Industry and Business (CMI&B) of ICAI, this illustrious event unfolded at Hotel Aurika Sky City in Mumbai on the 6th of January 2024.
The occasion was graced by the esteemed presence of Chief Guest, Shri Ramesh Bais, Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra, awardee and members of Governing Council of ICAI. The Hon’ble Governor, while presenting the awards, congratulated the awardees on their exemplary performance and also thanked the ICAI for recognising the achievers. The Hon’ble Governor emphasized the indispensable role that Chartered Accountants play in the country’s economy, extending far beyond the financial well-being of organizations. In the contemporary digital era, CAs contributions are instrumental in fostering the growth and development of the nation, marking a significant impact on the economic landscape.
While addressing the program, CA. Aniket Sunil Talati, President, ICAI expressed profound pride in affixing ‘CA’ before one’s name, emphasizing that these two letters transcend mere alphabets; they symbolize trust. In his address, he highlighted the integral role that CAs play in upholding the economic foundation of the country, and he underscored the significance of the CA designation as a mark of unwavering trust in the financial and professional realms.
CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, Vice President, ICAI highlighted the evolving landscape of Chartered Accountancy, noting the increasing trend of CAs venturing into diverse industries and even launching their own startups. He underscored the importance of recognizing and honouring outstanding achievements through these awards, emphasizing that these accolades serve as a crucial platform to celebrate CAs who not only serve as exemplary role models but also make substantial contributions to the nation through their exceptional work.

The prestigious CA Hall of Fame award was conferred upon Padma Bhushan CA. Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman, Aditya Birla Group. This recognition is a testament to the tremendous longitudinal impact he has had on the Indian industry. Moreover, his leadership and success over the last three decades have inspired a generation of young professionals to pursue Chartered Accountancy.
The Inspirational Leadership Tribute – CA Hall of Fame (Posthumous) was posthumously awarded to the esteemed Late CA. Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. His life’s journey stands as a beacon of inspiration for many. Commencing his foray into the stock market with modest investments, he has since evolved into the celebrated maestro of the bull market. Embarking on his financial journey with nominal amounts, he steadfastly moved forward, and with unwavering determination and diligence, he erected a financial empire.
CA in Public Service Award was given to Hon’ble CA. Harish Salve, Former Solicitor General of India and Hon’ble CA. Anil R. Dave, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India. CA. Paritosh Kashyap, President & Head – Wholesale Banking Group, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd., CA. Gandharv Tongia, Executive Director and CFO, Polycab India Ltd. And CA. Anil Kumar Agrawal, Managing Director, Back Office IT Solutions Pvt. Ltd. was awarded CA Business Leader Award and CA. Anil Singhvi, Managing Editor, Zee Media was awarded with CA CXO award along with other CXO, CFOs, Global Achiever, leading & rising Entrepreneurs, and Young Members were also honoured.
The evening commenced with a motivational session titled “Crafting the Symphony of Joy: A Guided Exploration into the Balance Sheet of Bliss,” delivered by Shri Gauranga Das Ji. The audience was captivated by his profound insights on achieving a harmonious balance in life.
The Awards were finalised at a Jury Meet held under the Chairmanship of CA. Motilal Oswal, MD & CEO, Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd. on 20th December, 2023 at Mumbai.
