Government Allows Additional 25 Lakh Tonnes Wheat Export Under Revised DGFT Policy

In exercise of the powers granted under Sections 3 and 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, along with relevant provisions of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023, the Central Government hereby revises the export policy relating to Wheat under Chapter 10 of Schedule 2 of the ITC (HS) Export Policy.

Effect of this Notification

  1. Export status of Wheat under HS Codes 10011900 and 10019910 will continue to remain Prohibited.
  2. However, export of an additional 25 Lakh Metric Tonnes (LMT) of Wheat is now allowed, subject to terms and operational guidelines to be issued separately through a Public Notice by DGFT.
  3. Existing provisions under earlier DGFT notification dated 13 May 2022 shall continue to remain applicable. Accordingly, exports may also be permitted based on approvals granted by the Government of India to other nations facing food security requirements, upon request from their governments.
  4. Such government-approved exports will be in addition to the newly permitted quantity of 25 LMT.
