ICAI Invites Contributions for Advanced IT Test Question Bank

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has invited Chartered Accountants and professionals/experts associated with various organisations, institutions and universities to contribute Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) for the Question Bank of the Advanced Information Technology (IT) Test under the Advanced Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (AICITSS).

The Advanced IT Test is applicable to students who have cleared the CA Intermediate Examination and completed the prescribed 15-day Advanced IT Training. Completion of both the Advanced IT Training and the test is required before a student can appear for the CA Final Examination.

Pattern of the Advanced IT Test

The test will comprise 100 Multiple Choice Questions, carrying one mark each. Candidates will have two hours to complete the examination.

A candidate needs to obtain at least 40 marks to qualify. There is no negative marking, and one mark will be awarded for every correct response.

Invitation for MCQ Contributions

ICAI is developing a comprehensive Question Bank for the Advanced IT Test and has invited contributions from eligible professionals and subject-matter experts.

Contributors may submit their MCQs in MS Word format through the following email address: aicitss.qb@icai.in

The contribution should be accompanied by the duly completed Interest Declaration Form prescribed by ICAI.

The form can be accessed here:
https://resource.cdn.icai.org/94447exam-aps6443.pdf

The relevant Advanced IT study material comprises:

  • Module I: AICITSS Module 1
  • Module II: AICITSS Module 2

Guidelines for Preparing MCQs

Contributors are required to observe the following requirements while preparing the questions:

  1. Every question should contain four options — A, B, C and D — with only one option being correct.
  2. The question and its options should be clearly worded and should not create any ambiguity regarding the correct answer.
  3. The correct option and the source reference must be mentioned for every MCQ. The source should specify the relevant Module, Unit and Page Number of the Advanced IT study material.
  4. Since the options may be randomly shuffled during the examination, questions should not contain dependent or linked options such as:
    • All of the above
    • None of the above
    • Both A and B
    • Similar combination-based alternatives
  5. Questions should be carefully designed with closely related and plausible alternatives, so that candidates are required to possess a proper understanding of the underlying concept rather than simply identify an obvious answer.
  6. The questions submitted should be original and should not have been previously published in books, journals, study materials, reference books, coaching material or other publications.
  7. Questions should also not be reproduced or adapted from question papers conducted by other examination bodies or from material issued by coaching or training institutions.
  8. Contributors must ensure that the questions submitted to ICAI are exclusively prepared for this purpose and are not shared with any other individual, organisation or institution.

Honorarium for Selected Questions

An honorarium of ₹500 per MCQ will be paid for each question that is selected by the review panel constituted by ICAI.

The decision of the Institute regarding the selection of questions will be final and binding.

Confidentiality and Copyright

The copyright in the MCQs submitted and selected for the Question Bank will vest with the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

All communications and information exchanged in connection with the contribution of questions will be treated as strictly confidential by both ICAI and the contributor.

Interested Chartered Accountants and subject-matter experts may submit their original MCQs along with the required declaration form in accordance with the prescribed guidelines.
